Fever, 1793

Fever 1793       by Laurie Halse Anderson

ISBN:  978-0689838583, c.2000

It is 1793, set in Philadelphia, and the yellow fever epidemic is breaking out.  Mattie Cook, is a teenage girl living in Philadelphia during the late 18th century, has many hopes and dreams. She has plans for the coffee house her poor family owns, and she plans for her future and family.    Her adventure begins when she flees with her grandfather for survival and fear, only to find out that the epidemic is everywhere.   Mattie Cook struggles to stay alive.

This book gave an insight to what it might have been like to live during an epidemic.  Overall I thought the book was very good and a real page turner!  I give this book a four star review.
